SK-TDA4VM: Using the SK-TDA4VM with QNX OS and PTP

Part Number: SK-TDA4VM

I am using QNX 7.1.0, and I am wondering if my device supports IEEE 1588/PTP. I need to be able to synchronize the clocks of multiple devices in my system.

If my device does support PTP, can you please provide me with some information on how to access the PTP Clock?

  • Hi,

Are you using Ethfw or Native QNX driver as an ethernet controller? On which CPSW you are looking for the PTP support?

    Regards,
    Tanmay

  • Hi Tanmay,

    Thanks for your reply!

I have checked the ifconfig -a output, and I see that the ethernet controller is listed as cpsw0. This means that the Native QNX driver is most likely being used. The Native QNX driver supports PTP Clock, so I believe that the SK-TDA4VM should support IEEE 1588/PTP.

However, I am not sure if the PTP Clock support is enabled by default.

  • Hello,

Can you please share which TI SDK release you are using for the SK-TDA4VM board being used?

I have checked the ifconfig -a output, and I see that the ethernet controller is listed as cpsw0

You noted that you see "cpsw0", so we assume you are using the drop released by QNX, and it is probably using the QNX io-sock driver, in which case you must contact Blackberry QNX for support.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Praveen,

    Thanks for your reply.
QNX SDP 7.1 is the QNX SDK version I am using.

You noted that you see "cpsw0", so we assume you are using the drop released by QNX, and it is probably using the QNX io-sock driver, in which case you must contact Blackberry QNX for support.

Yes, that's right. I am able to see io-sock/ in the /dev directory.

  • Hello Shashwath,

The io-sock driver is delivery from Blackberry QNX and we suggest you contact them regarding PTP support in the driver.

    We closing this ticket.

    Thanks.
