SK-TDA4VM: How to recognize the camera OV5647

Hello.

I want to connect OV5647 camera module to SK-TDA4VM and capture the image.

By the way, the camera doesn't seem to recognize it.

A manual for the OV5640 is available on the link above.

SK-TDA4VM's firmware did not provide a dtbo file for OV5647 by default, so I downloaded the ov5647.dtbo file from the link below, renamed it k3-j721e-sk-csi2-ov5647.dtbo, and placed it in the /boot path.

I then added the file name to the name-overlays= part in /run/media/mmcblk0p1/uEnv.txt and rebooted, but it is not recognized.

In conclusion, what I want to know is as follows.

1. How to recognize and verify the camera
2. How to receive an image from the camera and output it to a display connected by hdmi

Hi,

I can see that a prebuilt overlay file is present in "[PSKD-Linux-Install-Direcory]/board-support/prebuilt-images/" in SDK 8.6. You can use this overlay file. Please let me know if you are on some different SDK version.

I am using SDK 8.5 version.
I want to upgrade to 8.6 version, but the current manual only describes .zip files.

I don't know how to apply bin and .xz files to etcher.

As of SDK 8.6 version, there is no prebuilt overlay file for OV5647 in the path "[PSKD-Linux-Install-Direcory]/board-support/prebuilt-images/".

Hi,

I believe OV5640 sensor is almost identical to OV5647?

If yes, could you try using the "k3-j721e-sk-csi2-ov5640.dtbo" instead?

The source dts file could be found in

${PSDKLA}/board-support/linux-5.10.162+gitAUTOINC+76b3e88d56-g76b3e88d56/arch/arm64/boot/dts/ti/k3-j721e-sk-csi2-ov5640.dts

I tried to try it, but the contents on the dts file were too low-level, so I couldn't easily fix it.

I also found the ov5647.dts file via internet search, but the content is too different from ov5640.dts and it didn't actually apply to sk-tda4vm.

Hi,

For every upstream sensor driver, there would be a corresponding .yaml file which could be referenced to create the device tree to integrate the sensor.

Hence, for ov5647, we have ov5647.yaml in the SDK in the path below.

${PSDKLA}/board-support/linux-5.10.162+gitAUTOINC+76b3e88d56-g76b3e88d56/Documentation/devicetree/bindings/media/i2c/ov5647.yaml

Please refer this yaml file and integrate the sensor into the dts.
