PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62A: Consultation on AM62A Platform Software Development Kit and Development Tools.

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VM

Hi TI Experts,

We would like to understand the differences between AM62A platform development and TDA4. Please help us with the following information:

  1. Does the software development kit provide Processor-SDK-RTOS for the TDA4 platform, or only Processor-SDK-Linux-RT and MCU-PLUS-SDK?
  2. Are there any differences between the AM62A platform’s ISP module and the TDA4 platform’s? Which version of VPAC is used?
  3. Is the DCC software tool still used for image quality tuning? Which version of CAC needs to be adapted?

Please help us to sovle these cases
thank you
Best Regards
  • Hello Biao,

    Thanks for your inquiry.

Does the software development kit provide Processor-SDK-RTOS for the TDA4 platform, or only Processor-SDK-Linux-RT and MCU-PLUS-SDK?

There is no Processor-SDK-RTOS for AM62A, but there is a firmware builder which is equivalent to the Processor-SDK-RTOS for TDA4. This firmware isn't publicly available on ti.com, but you can get access to it through TI's My secure resources.

Are there any differences between the AM62A platform’s ISP module and the TDA4 platform’s? Which version of VPAC is used?

Yes, the ISP module on AM62A is different from that on TDA4. The mean difference is the RGB-IR support. The version of VPAC is 3L.

Is the DCC software tool still used for image quality tuning? Which version of CAC needs to be adapted?

Yes, the DCC tuning tool is still used for image quality tuning. The latest DCC supports VPAC3L. Not sure what you meant by version of CAC.

    Regards,

    Jianzhong

  • Dear Jianzhong

Thank you very much for answering my questions. I have a few more inquiries:

1.When we obtain firmware from secure resources,Is the code architecture related to the camera driver and ISP tuning development consistent with the TDA4VM platform’s Processor-SDK-RTOS?

2.Can you release the introduction documents regarding the VPAC3L version?

3.we previously consulted with your company’s expert who mentioned that the CAC module would be integrated into the latest DCC . CAC stands for Chromatic Aberration Correction. Will this module be included in the latest DCC?

    Regards,

    Biao

  • Dear Jianzhong

I couldn’t find the entry link for applying to the firmware builder for AM62A, or the entry for TI’s My secure resources. Can you provide me with the application link address?

    Regards,

    Biao

  • Hi Biao,

When we obtain firmware from secure resources,Is the code architecture related to the camera driver and ISP tuning development consistent with the TDA4VM platform’s Processor-SDK-RTOS?

The camera driver for AM62A is on the A53, while it's on R5 for TDA4VM in Processor-SDK-RTS. The ISP tuning is very similar between AM62A and TDA4VM.

Can you release the introduction documents regarding the VPAC3L version?

We're in the middle of updating the VPAC3L documentation in the AM62A TRM. It's expected to be released soon.

we previously consulted with your company’s expert who mentioned that the CAC module would be integrated into the latest DCC . CAC stands for Chromatic Aberration Correction. Will this module be included in the latest DCC?

Yes, CAC tuning is included in latest DCC tuning tool.

I couldn’t find the entry link for applying to the firmware builder for AM62A, or the entry for TI’s My secure resources. Can you provide me with the application link address?

There is no application link. Please contact your TI FAE to request for the access.

The camera driver for AM62A is on the A53.

May I ask whether the XML parameters generated by the DCC tool are intended to run on A53 or R5F?

    Regards,

    Biao

  • Hi Biao,

For AM62A, the CSI camera driver is on A53 and the ISP driver is on R5F. Therefore the DCC binaries (converted from the XML files), stored in Linux filesystem, will be used by the ISP driver on R5F.
