Part Number: SK-AM62
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM625

Hi,

I need to use sysbench to do my DDR test, but it show my kernel don't have such tool.

Im using ti-processor-sdk-linux-am62xx-evm-08.04.01.03, may I how to install package tools into kernel?

  • Hi Hong,

    Thanks for your query.

Can you try the following ?

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install sysbench

    BR Vaibhav
  • Hi BR Vaibhav,

    It show no command found.

  • Hi Hong,

Can yo please confirm if this is the kernel (root@am62xx-evm:~#) which shows up after SPL ?

  • Hi Hong,

Thanks for the logs and please allow me sometime to look at sysbench.

    BR Vaibhav

  • Hi Hong,

I think we cannot install on the following terminal(Which you have mentioned in the image above). I think you are using the yocto image, and one option would have been npm package installer.

But that also seems to not work and fails to install sysbench.

Moreover, if you pick the debian image which comes with SDK 9.0, then you would be able to play with apt as it comes by default with debian.

But even upon trying the debian image and playing around with apt, I see no scope to install sysbench.

I will check internally as to what can be a possible workaround.

  • Hi Hong,

I tired this alternative way as well.

NOTE: I connected the SD Card to my PC and over there installed the repo for sysbench. I did the installation and it was successful.

But as soon as we switch back to COM Port and access the root from there, none of it seems to work.

In the above attached screenshot you can see sysbench repo installed. I even tried using sysbench stable release, and upon successful extraction of the .tar.gz file, we can check the version by going to /sysbench-1.0.20/src and entering the command sudo ./sysbench --version

The above command gives the version of sysbench when connected to PC, but when the SD Card is inserted in the board, it does not work at all.

  • Hi Hong,

I figured out a way to install tools into Kernel.

I am using the latest Debian Image which comes along with SDK 9.0.

For me, since I am behind a proxy, I had to configure proxy in the file etc/apt/apt.confg.d/proxy.confg. (Note: Apart from proxy.conf there are other files which I added as well)

But I am assuming if you are not behind any firewall then you can connect ethernet cable to the AM62x-SK and that should be sufficient.

From here onwards you should be able to install sysbench using sudo apt install sysbench

Let me know if you need any follow up help.

    Best Regards,

    Vaibhav

  • Hi Vaibhav,

Im using virtual machine ubuntu version 22.04. Could you explain more detail about the configuration of proxy in file etc/apt/apt.confg.d/proxy.confg.
How to install sysbench using “sudo" command?

  • Hi Hong-san,

I believe that you will not require to set up proxy unless you are behind one.

You would simply need to connect the ethernet port.

    Please check the attachment below.

Please let me know once you connect the ethernet port.

    Regards,

    Vaibhav
