Problem creating a c6747 CDB file

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

I tried creating a new CDB file for my 6747 project and when it tries to translate it to TCF format I get an error in the DOS window (see below)...

When I looked for the folder:

c:/ccstudio_v3.3/bios_5_33_03/packages/ti/bios/config/update/5.25.06/

I noticed that .../update/5.25.06/ does not exist, instead I found:

...update/4.90.270   and

...update/4.90.280

I can only assume I did not install something properly.

Any ideas?

  • Hi howy,

The diredtory that you mentioned looks the same in my machine, and everything is working for me - so it should not be your problem.

I have a question... Why are you trying to convert from cdb to tcf if you are creating a new file? In the new versions of DSP/BIOS and CCS, it creates a tcf file when you go to File-> New-> DSP/BIOS Configuration... So you would not need to convert anything.

  • I forget what process I was using that created CDB files, but when I tried used to use New->DSP BOIS ConfigFile I got a script error that seemed to also imply that it was fighting with two different versions of DSP BIOS.

I took off the old DSP BIOS and re-installed the new DSB-BIOS and a few other componenets and now when I choose File->New->DSP BIOS Config File, nothing happens.

I think I may have to clean off my machine and start from scratch.

Before I re-install everything, Is it correct for the installation to be putting things into several different base folders?

My final installation wanted to use these root directories which seems kinda strange (and annoying):

    C:\C674x_dsp_1_00_00_07

    C:\CCStudio_v3.3

    C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments

    C:\Program Files\C6000 Code Generation Tools 6.1.8

    thanks,

  • howy,

These folders seems ok. They are the default installation folders. Whenever you installed the new DSP/BIOS and the new Code generation tools, did you go to the Component Manager and selected the on you wanted? Do you have another version of CCS installed in your machine other than 3.3?

  • Yes I chose them in the component manager.  The CCS installation was on a new PC.

I am on a tight time budget so I am now seeing if I can start from an example file like Hello.tcf. That seems to be working out so far.

I now need to figure out the new CSL strategy.

On my old 6713 project I had included a library called csl6713e.lib.  I cant seem to find a 6747 equivalent for that.

  • CSL has been replaced by a product called PSP.  The PSP consists of complete BIOS drivers as opposed to the CSL which was just some underlying software that you could use to help write a driver.  You can download PSP here for your platform.:

    https://www-a.ti.com/downloads/sds_support/targetcontent/psp/bios_psp/index.html

  • Ok, that is good to know, I thought PSP was some new feature that I did not have to worry about.
