AM6442: how to start debugging LPDDR4

Do you have JTAG access to your board?  If so, you can try the following steps in CCS:

-Generate a Target Configuration using the AM64x SK EVM template if you haven’t already done so:

         -View->Target Configurations.  Right click on User Defined and choose New Target Configuration. 

         -in “Board or Device”, choose AM64x_SK_EVM and save the configuration

-In your CCS folder C:\ti\ccs1240\ccs\ccs_base\emulation\gel\AM64x\AM64_DDRSS, there is a file called AM64x-LP4_50_800.gel which is the configuration for the AM64x SK EVM.  If the device you are using is similar, you can probably just use that configuration.  Otherwise, you will have to generate a new config using the sysconfig tool at https://dev.ti.com/sysconfig/?product=Processor_DDR_Config&device=AM64x.  If you do create a new DDR configuration, put the file in the AM64_DDRSS directory and replace this line in AM64x_SK_EVM.gel with the new file name

GEL_LoadGel("$(GEL_file_dir)/AM64x-LP4_50_800.gel");       

-Power up your board, right click on the saved target configuration and Launch Selected Configuration

-Connect to DMSC.  This will automatically call a GEL to configure PLL and PSC.

-Connect to A53.  This will automatically run the DDR configuration.  You will see output on the console.

Once completed you can open a memory browser into DDR memory space (0x80000000) to see if you can read/write memory

Yes,I use the JTAG interface in CCS software for debugging.

I have some questions:

-"Connect to DMSC" means "Run the load_dmsc_hs_fs.js script from the scripting console"? As show below:

No, don't use any of the scripting tool.  Just connect to dmsc by right clicking on the core in the debug window.  Same with connecting to A53 core.

It appears that the scripting tool is still running something.  Can you remove this?  You should be able to use CCS in any boot mode, as long as there is no valid boot image

What you see in the scripting console window is the output from the previous test. I tried to connect to DMSC againand the result was the same:

Can the HS FS device be directly connected to DMSC?

I have a GP SK-AM64 and a HS SK-AM64 on hand, 

Verified the GP board can connect as James suggested, but connect HS board get same result as Zengsibin.

Sorry, i did not realize you were working with an HSFS device.  Please check the following link: https://software-dl.ti.com/mcu-plus-sdk/esd/AM64X/09_00_00_31/exports/docs/api_guide_am64x/HSFS_MIGRATION_GUIDE.html under Application boot using SBL.  

Once the script is complete, connect to R5 (not A53), open a memory window and see if you can successfully read/write memory at 0x80000000.  Send the console output with the results of the script.

Can the following figure represent the success of writing LPDDR4?

Yes, that shows some initial success.  Realize that the memory fill function in CCS writes to the memory as single cycle accesses.  You would need to run a memory test that performs burst accesses to truly test the interface.

Try loading the attached file using Run->Load->Load Program.  This will run a version of memtester which will help test different read/write patterns, output is to the console.
