C6678 Design Documentation

Hi,

Can you please let us know when the C6678 design documentation will be updated.  Readers of the this forum will know there are many errors & omissions in the design documentation, yet we are still all struggling along using documentation that in some cases hasn't been updated since November last year.

As you know, it can only take the smallest error to render a design unusable, so up to date and accurate documentation is absolutely critical.

Adding to that, we still don't have access to IBIS files or any sort of clue about power consumption.  With regard to the later you can find more info on the Advantech website (C6678 EVM errata) than you can on TI's.

Designing a C6678 into a circuit is quite hard work.  Not having great documentation makes it a lot lot harder and makes it take a lot lot longer.

Do you feel our pain?

    We are continuously working on the documentation as we progress through the C6678 device characterization.  There is a new C6678 Data Manual on the TI.COM website dated 27 July.  There have been IBIS files on that page for some time with the latest revision dated 12 August.  Power characterization has taken longer than we had planned.  I understand that a Power Consumption App Note and spreadsheet will be available in the next week.  The C6678 EVM design and hence the Advantech website have been updated with design information as we have been revising the design.

    The purpose of this forum is to provide real-time updates to design and documentation issues as they arise.  We expect designers to be searching the forum for topics related to them.  Please let us know of specific topics that you need addressed.
