Hi,

In the release instructions for SDK9.0, I read about Host OS Support.

It was upgraded from Ubuntu18.04 to Ubuntu22.04

In the sdk_builder/scripts/setup_psdk_rtos.h，I see compatibility with Ubuntu18.04 and Ubuntu22.04.

I want to confirm whether SDK9.0 can use Ubuntu18.04 as the Host OS？

Hi Zhisong,

The preferred Ubuntu installation with 9.0 SDK and all future 9.x SDKs is Ubuntu 22.04. TI has moved to the latest Ubuntu LTS starting with 9.x SDKs, given that Ubuntu 18 has been quite old.

Ubuntu 18.04 may continue to work, but I do recommend you to move up to Ubuntu 22.04.

Because the current SDK versions we use are mainly SDK7.3 and SDK8.6, both of which are Ubuntu18.04 HOST OS versions.

Considering the unity of our development environment, we also want to use Ubuntu18.04 as the HOST OS for the SDK9.0 version.

I would like to confirm that SDK9.0 uses Ubuntu18.04 as the HOST OS. Is there any problem or risk?

I'll check this internally to confirm if there are any risks, but the general recommendation would be to move to 22.04 as the future SDKs will also require that.

For some of the SDK components you will not be able to build with the Ubuntu 18.04, you'll run into compilation errors. I did not get a chance to check the PDK, but vision apps compilation will fail. So I would definitely recommend to move to 22.04 version.
