XDS510 USB Emulator & C6678 EVM

Dear All,

We would like to connect XDS510 USB Emulator to C6678 EVM. The EVM has a 60-pin TI connector (non-MIPI) and processor JTAG pins are 1.8V interface. For connecting XDS510 Emulator I beleive we would need a 14-pin to 60-pin low voltage adapter (also mentioned at http://linux-c6x.org/wiki/index.php/Setting_up_CCS_v5#Spectrum_Digital_XDS510USB). I have checked TI, BlackHawk, Spectrum Digital websites for availability of this adpater but have not been able to find the same. I have also verified the same with Spectrum Digital Application support (available through their website) and they dont have this kind of adpater.

Am I missing something here, Can someone please guide me on this?

Thanks for your quick response. I have seen both of these and they are passive adapters. XDS510 USB 14-pin JTAG connector can be connected directly to processor whose JTAG pins support 3.3V interface. In case of C6678 the JTAG pins are 1.8V so passive adpater will not work. This is similar to the DM6446 processor. In DM6446 EVM we used 14-pin to 20-pin CTI low voltage adapter to connect.

So in this case just 14-pin to 60-pin passive adapter will not work, we need a 14-pin to 60-pin low voltage adapter.

You're right. I misread the part about the 3.3-1.8V interface. I was thinking this was just a 14-60 pin translation. There was actually a similar thread about this issue yesterday. Here's a link to it for your reference. I made a number of recommendations

Here's another potential idea that should work. There is a 14-14 pin low voltage adapter available from Spectrum Digital. You can find it at the link below. Using that adapter along with one of the passive 14e-60t passive adapters that I mentioned will give you what you need.

Hi Dan,

We purchased a 6678L eval kit. We have an XDS510USB emulator, the 14 pin to 60 pin adaptor and the low voltage adaptor from spectrum digital. I am not able to connect. Could I am still able to connect to my omap eval board so I know its not a driver issue. I run the test connection in the .ccxml and it fails all 3 tests. Is something configured incorrectly for the 6678L?
