Dear Support Community,
we are currently running an architectural study for a next generation networked audio device capable of encoding and decoding very high bitrate audio. A throughput of more than 30Mbit/s is required over WIFI link. We have checked SDIO based WIFI solutions (especially the TI one) versus USB based solutions and it seems that USB offers much better throughput at lower CPU load compared to SDIO. However there are technical advantages of SDIO based WIFI solutions as well.
The CPU is not firmly selected yet, it will be a Cortex A8 running at least 720MHz.
Please let us know if our observation of much less CPU load and higher througput when using USB for WIFI connection is in line with your expectation and experience. We don´t want to jump to conclusions too early.
Thanks and regards,
Christoph
