AM3356: Micro SD Card Industrial Grade compatibility With AM3356

Part Number: AM3356

Hi

Was checking the Micro SD industrial grade support for AM335x.

We were able to find the below parts from Transcend.

Can anyone please advise whether the following parts and technology is compatible with the AM335x MMC interface.

We are using MMC0 with 4 bit mode for Micro SD card provision on AM335x.

  • All SD Cards compliant to the SD Card Association physical layer specification are required to be backwards compatible to the data transfer modes supported by AM335x. Therefore, I would not expect any hardware compatibility issue. You will need to check your SD Card software driver to see if it supports these cards.

  • Hi,

Can you guide on how to check this point.

You will need to check your SD Card software driver to see if it supports these cards.

  • I only provide hardware support and not able to answer this type of software question. Please tell me what software you are using, and I will assign this thread to someone from our software team.

  • Hi ,

We are using Embedded Linux with Kernal Version 4.14.67 on AM3356.

Please assign the thread to SW person who can provide information on this.

  • Hi Akshay,

AM3356 doesn't have special MMC requirement in software. Whatever MMC functions supported in kernel v4.14.67 would work on AM3356 too.

Please note that - as stated in the AM335x Errata Section 3.1.5, only Standard (STD) and High Speed (HS) modes are supported on MMC0/1/2 interfaces. SDR12, SDR25 and SDR50 modes are not supported.
