Missing register HDVPSS documentation C6A816x/DM816x

The datasheet "TMS320C6A816x C6-Integra DSP+ARM Processors" (SPRS680A-OCTOBER 2010-REVISED MARCH 2011) refers at the register mapping summary (page 249/249) to another document regarding detailed description. It states "For detailed register information, see the chapter in the HDVPSS TMS320C6A8x C6-Integra DSP + ARM Processor Technical Reference Manual (literature SPRUGX9 number) ".

As I checked that document I found the register description is completely missing. The name chapter describes HDVPSS on just 20 pages (of 2200!!).

Please add the register description to the document or giv me at least some infromation where I can get it.

Thanks in advance.

Roland

  • Roland,

Sorry for the confusion.  The register summary was added to the datasheet before it was realized that the register details would not be added to th TRM.  The HDVPSS registers are not exposed in the TRM since all processing is handled internally by the Media Controller; an internal MCU takes care of programming the registers and DMA.  Access to the HDVPSS is through standard Linux drivers so the registers are not needed.

    Marc

  • Roland,

To clarify one point, the current HDVPSS drivers and driver documentation is included in the EZSDK, which can be downloaded from the device product folder.

  • Hello Marc,

thank you for your answers. You're right the HDVPSS driver is included in my PSP 4.00.00.10. Unfortunately, my goal is to capture video frames from our cameras, which seems not to be supported by the vpss driver. So I'm trying to extend the driver by some IOCTLs ans programming the registers directly. For more information, please view this post.

    Best regards,

    Roland
