EDMA link plus chain to self

I thought someone has asked this before but I can't find it with the search.  What's the timing when one uses linking AND also chains to self.  Is the link update guaranteed to occur prior to the TR?

     Link Update is happens after the transfer request packet (TRP) has been submitted from the Channel Controller to the Transfer controller (TC). While Link Update is performed no events are evaluated, so even if you are chaining to self, the chained event will be evaluated only after the link update ( this is guaranteed in hardware). 

    The link update can/will likely happen before the transfer associated with the transfer context of the channel prior to the link update is completed (as the TRP could still be sitting in the TC).
