AM625: CSI Camera Emulation by DPHY RX BIST Functions

Part Number: AM625

Section 12.6.2.4.1.7 of the AM62x Sitara Processors Technical Reference Manual (Rev. A) (spruiv7a.pdf NOVEMBER 2022) contains instructions for setting up the Clock and Data Lane High Speed Receiver BIST Functions Test.

[Question]
I understand that this is not the intended use of the BIST Functions Test, but is it possible to emulate the reception of data from a CSI camera using this function?
(*)Emulation here means that the CSI_RX_IF core can receive data by outputting a test pattern from the PPI interface of DPHY_RX.

  • Hello T.M,

    Thank you for the query.

I need to check if this use case is supported.

Can you help me understand on the use case for this emulation.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • Hello Sreenivasa,

Our develop environment does not allow connection of camera devices. We need to debug the software in that environment.

We expect the BIST function to act as a pseudo camera and behave as a image data source.
I'm asking this question because I wasn't understand if DPHY_RX(cadence IP) can output the test patterns generated by the BIST function.
I'm thinking that if DPHY_RX can output test patterns from the PPI interface, it can be used as a pseudo camera.

If it is possible to operate as a pseudo-camera, we would like you to disclose the registers in the DPHY_RX module that are not open to the public.

The following diagram shows the data flow I am expecting.

  • Hello T.M,

    Thank you for the inputs.

I did a quick internally with the experts and looks like  the DPHY_RX cannot output test patterns that you are looking for.
