I understand that the device is not detected on the USB port of my Linux PC (the XDS200 is not listed when I do lsusb on the command terminal). As I said in my first post, I do not see the XDS200 also in device manager of my Windows PC.

I measure 5V on the R35 resistance close to the J1 XDS USB port but the LD6, LD7 and LD8 are off...

Thanks, yes the on-board XDS200 is not being detected by CCS and apparently both Linux and Windows hosts. It could be some hardware configuration issue with the board. I will bring this thread to the attention of the board experts for further suggestions.

Thanks for the feedback. My K2G EVM board is configured to boot in Sleep/No Boot as requested for a XDS200 debug session. Maybe, I need to set another jumpers to activate the onboard emulator...

Thank for the links. Unfortunately, these guides do not help since my XDS200 embedded emulator is not recognized by my PC when plugged in the USB port. So, I can't complete the procedures described in these guides.

If you plug in the XDS200 to a Linux PC (even without connected to the EVM) and do "lsusb", you should see the following on the list:

Bus 001 Device 010: ID 0451:bef0 Texas Instruments, Inc.

Did you mean you didn't see this on your Linux PC?

Also, if you plug in the XDS200 to a Windows PC, you should see one more "USB Composite Device" on the "USB controllers" list. Did you see this?

It's a new EVM. I tried the Matrix demo once and it works. But, I have problem with the embedded XDS200, it never worked. The board is RevD.

Error: Failed to open port connection : xds2xxu : 0x0

Error: test failed

Same problem : the PC does not regonized the XDS200 on the USB port...

Note the below in the thread anc confirm the connector is not mounted. 

You still can, but you won't get MIPI speed. Once you plug in one in MIPI connector, it shuts down the on-board one.

I don't use an external XDS200 emulator. I just try to use the on-board XDS200 emulator. I already read the information in the sprui65a.pdf. I have nothing connected in the MIPI 60-pin connector.

I recently received the EVMK2H. I am able to get a console out of the COM2 (reference from the quick start guide) port, which is has a DB-9 connection. Unfortunately, out of the 5 computers I have at my desk only 1 has a DB-9 connector. The Linux build machine where I have hosted the SDK only has USB ports. When I connect up the USB cable from the XDS to the Linux machine, after making sure the drivers are installed, I can't see any console data coming out of the interface. I have tried Windows machines (with drivers installed) using putty, Linux using minicom, even the same Linux machine where I can see the console using the DB-9 cable.

Is there a way to have the U-boot and Linux console come through the XDS USB port, so my Linux build machine can connect to the EVM?

The XDS USB port is for JTAG debugging only. You won't see console output on it.

In order to see the console output you should connect the FTDI-USB (Uart-to-USB) port on the main board. Both MCU console & SoC console are routed to this usb port.

On your host PC you should start minicom:
sudo minicom -D /dev/ttyUSB0 --> this is the SoC debug console (you will see u-boot & linux console here)

sudo minicom -D /dev/ttyUSB1 --> this is the MCU console.

You probably just selected the wrong xds200 connection when creating their target configuration. You need to use the one that says "on board xds200"

I am getting a warning from CCS7 that the xds2xx firmware is out of date. In searching the e2e boards, I see other had the same problem. The firmware is listed by "xds2xx>xds2xx_conf.exe get xds2xxu 0" as 1.0.0.2. But when I try to update the firmware I receive no errors at all, but the readback continue to say 1.0.0.2.

Someone said they had to program the mezzanine directly through JTAG through the 20-pin connector. I do not have access to other JTAG pods in order to program the mezzanine directly. What should I do?

You need to re-ennumerate the USB connection and restart the EVM for the version number to show up correctly. Please give this a try and let us know if you still see this issue.

The update through JTAG pod is not required if you can do this using command line script with the USB connection. This doesn`t work in Linux host environment so we recommend update using JTAG pod to some users.

I'm seeking some help or verification from someone that is knowledgeable about the EVMK2H kits.

I have recently been working with the Rev. 3 EVMK2H but I am having trouble with the included XDS200 Emulator Mezzanine card. I can not get the host PC does to detect a hotplug of the mini-USB connector on the mezzanine. No other emulators are connected to the EVM, just the mezzanine card. The host device manager shows no new devices, either.

On the other hand, the serial USB interface connector (on the main board) is detected normally. A Tiva C card with a built in emulator is also detected normally.

So, is there something unique here? What am I missing?

With the disorganized nature of the documentation for the EVM, I can't find any specifics beyond a simple description for the emulator.

Also, when receiving the board, the programming and operational mode did not seem to conforms to the quick start guide. I had to muck around with the u-boot settings and such. Not that this has anything to do with my issue, but it seems to indicate a slap-dash QA process from Advantech.

I'm hoping there is not some HW issue and I'm simply having issues due to my ignorance.

Are there some jumpers somewhere that need to be set? Some other settings on the PCB?

Apparently, there is what appears to be, a small "reset button" on the underside of the XDS200 module. Look closely along the outside edge. If I assert that pushbutton after the system is powered up and running, it causes a hotplug event on the host.

Subsequently, the device driver installs and it seems that all is normal.

While the situation is improved, I'd imagine this may need an update at somepoint to the power managment or other programmable logic... Unless it's just my board.

I tried the udpate procedure on a Linux PC. I don't have CCS on my Windows PC. But, on both PC, the XDS200 on-board emulator is not recognized on the USB port. I can't see any new device in device manager (on Windows) and no new USB device with lsusb command (on Linux). I don't have any other EVM K2G boards to test. But I tried with different USB ports on both PC (Linux and Windows) and also with alternative USB cables. I'm pretty sure that the problem is hardware. Since the XDS200 is not recognized by my PC, any of the procedure and solution in the threads can be done on my side.
