TMS320DM8147 API status

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM8147

Customer planning on using TMS320DM8147 when available.  looking for the staus on the following API called "calib3d," and in particular a function "cv::StereoSGBM::operator ()" that we would need to get on to the DaVinci DSP.

Is there a forum or mailing list where the TI folks working on this talk about it?

Or is there some way to inquire about the status of the OpenCV 3D support

on DaVinci (e.g., whether it's on anyone's radar)?

Thanks,

Frank Handal

  • Perhaps I can add some clarification (Frank's customer here).

We have a potential 3D application for a DaVinci processor, and are considering TMS320DM8147. We have a requirement to compute real-time disparity maps, and hoped to use the OpenCV function that Franks referenced for this purpose.

Based on what I see in the Forum discussions, it looks like perhaps VLIB is a better choice than The DaVinci OpenCV port is using OpenCV 1.0 (yes?), which does not include the 3D APIs, while VLIB appears to have some support for computing disparity maps.

Which direction is most likely to succeed here?

  • Hi,

The catalog team is planning for an OpenCV release in September.

I think the function below was ported to the DSP but not optimized.

  • Hi Viet--

    Thanks for the update.

By "the function below," do you mean the OpenCV modules referred to in the original post (calib3d / cv::StereoSGBM::operator ())?

  • Hi Eric,

    Yes.  Sorry for confusion.
