Android Gingerbread (2.3.x) on Beagle xM

Hi,

I have a rev B Beagle xM board and I'm trying to get Android Gingerbread working on it. I downloaded the required pre built images from http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_tii/TI_Android_DevKit/TI_Android_GingerBread_2_3_DevKit_1_0/index_FDS.html specifically for the xM and followed the instructions to the book. The problem is kernel boots perfectly but there's extreme lag once Android goes up usually it gets stuck on the Android logo animation or goes to a maximum to Android home screen where everything gets stuck (even the system clock).

I am using an 8GB class 4 microSD card. My host machine is a Ubuntu 9.04 VM.

Can you try with another sdcard.

Please provide boot logs and logcat command output so that we can debug it further.

Hi Bhat,

The current card I am using is a Kingston one, which is listed in the cards that have performance issues. I will try a tested card and let you know.

Please find the boot log (4251.beaglexm_android2_3_3_bootlog.txt) for the issue, i will shortly provide the logcat but the board is too slow it might take a bit of time.

Hi Bhat,

I tried an Apacer and a TwinMOS card today. Both seemed to work ok but were halting now and then. Anyhow, now I have run into another issue. I have to run the board with DVI at a resolution of 800x480 (WVGA). In order to get this done I generated a new boot.scr using the utility provided on the TI's website. The new arguments were set as:

setenv bootargs 'console=ttyS2,115200n8 androidboot.console=ttyS2 mem=256M root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootfstype=ext3 rootdelay=1 init=/init ip=off mpurate=1000 omapfb.mode=dvi:800x480MR-16 omap_vout.vid1_static_vrfb_alloc=y'

and I made this change in the utility so it reflected in the boot.scr itself. Doing this did not allow the Android to boot up properly. Here's the boot log (6320.beaglexm_wvga_bootlog.txt). Please also note that I am using the Android 2.3.3 pre-built images.
