AM625: CPTS

Hi Team,

Can you clarify for me what CPTS is used for and how? I see the CPTS section in the datasheet that only says this.

I have also checked the Time Sync Chapter (I believe it is 10.1.5 Time Synchronization Support (?)) in the TRM but it is not clear to me.

Hello Mari,

Building on top of Sreenivasa's answer, the CPTS is a counter that is able to timestamp the counter value when an input signal is detected, or output a signal at certain counter values.

The CPTS is used by the CPSW Ethernet peripheral to timestamp packets (e.g., to implement PTP). It can also be used for other usecases, like synchronizing cores through the time sync router.
