TDA4VM-Q1: Is the MT53E1G32D2FW-046 AAT:C DDR memory from Micron supported in the TDA4VM uboot and Linux BSP?

Part Number: TDA4VM-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VM

Hi,

Our own custom TDA4VM board references the TDA4VM starter kit and we have been using MT53D1024M32D4DT-046 AAT:D for DDR memory. The manufacturer Micron has declared this memory EOL(end of life), so we want to use MT53E1G32D2FW-046 AAT:C to replace it. I want to ask if TI knows if replacing the DDR memory with the MT53E1G32D2FW-046 AAT:C will impact the uboot or Linux software from TI and if this memory is supported by TI?

Thanks
Mark

  • Hi Mark,

We support LPDDR4 memories (x16 mode only) that adhere to the JEDEC spec. Thus, MT53E1G32D2FW-046 AAT:C should be fine to use.

If you are using revision C of MT53E1G32D2 (which it appears you are), then yes, it will require updated register settings due to memory organization differences.

However, it is always possible that IO settings could need to be adjusted when switching memories.

    Regards,
    Kevin
