SK-TDA4VM: Structure from Motion demo application stops after the 400th frame

Part Number: SK-TDA4VM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VM

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am currently trying to understand your provided Structure from Motion (SFM) implementation. My problem is, that after 400 frame the algorithm stops displaying point cloud on your dataset. Maybe some buffer is not properly handeled...

Can you help me with this issue?

Thank you, in advance!

Károly

  • Hi,

Could you please try to elaborate the use case in details ?

What application you are running and application setup etc.

    Hi,

I am trying to costumize your SFM demo: https://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-rtos-jacinto7/latest/exports/docs/vision_apps/docs/user_guide/group_apps_cv_demos_app_sfm.html

When I try to run the SFM demo application with my costum data (frames) I realized, that after the 400th frame the numbers of tracked points is significantly reduced. That's why I start to investigate the problem, and  I relaized that you provided 400 frames for the demo. That is why  if you run the SFM demonstration with your frames the problem does not arise. So I duplicated your images and try out that what will happen if more than 400 frames are added to the alogrithm. The results was the same, after the 400th frame the algorithm lost the tracked points.

I attached a video, which demonstrate my problem. At the end of the record you can se that the frame sequence jump to the begining, that is because I duplicated the numbers of frame, by renaming the frames so after 0000006499.y (the last frame) the 0000006500.y comes which is basically the 0000006101.y renamed to 0000006500.y...

You can see that after the 400th frame the numbers of displayed/tracked/reprojected points number is significantly reduced.

Maybe some memory/buffer are filled up?

    Thank you for your cooperation!

  • Hi,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Could you please share the performance stats too in good case and also when you face the issue?

The stats could be obtained by pressing "p" while running the demo.

Here we could see the usage of the cores and memories being used.

Also, I see that you have mentioned that you are using TDA4VM SK Board, is that correct?

Could you let me know which SDK version are you facing this issue?

    Regards

    Nikhil
