The tool can only flash SPI Flash without modification. You would have to make the changes yourself and rebuilt the project.

Theres no limit, but the entire image must be able to fit into external SDRAM. Also transferring a large image over UART at 115200 baud might take a long time.

The ROM is hardcoded to setup the dividers to achieve 115200 baud assuming at 24MHz input clock via the following formula: 24/2/13/8=115384 baud. With a 25MHz clock, you would get 25/2/13/8=120192 baud which is not close enough to 115200 to work.

Does this mean if we have a custom board design with 40MHz input clock instead of the 24MHz input clock, then ROM bootloader will not be working anymore in UART boot mode ?

By the way, I am using OMAPL138.

The device will still boot using a 40MHz input clock, but the resulting baud rate will not be 115200. If your host can accept non-standard baud rates, you can use the -baud option to match the resulting baud rate of the BOOTME sequence.

So, in my case I should use 40/2/13/8=192307 baud ?

Then, I will do below. And if the host can accept this baud rate, then it will still work ? Just to clarify my understanding.

Thats right, but again I'm not sure if your host will be able to accept the non-standard baud rates.

Just in the case that my host is not able to accept the non-standard buad rates, do I have other option to perform the same thing ?

My custom hardware is yet to arrive, probably middle of next month.

If it cannot use that baud rate, then no you will not be able to use UART boot mode or the serial flashing tools. There are other options for flashing such as the CCS tools that also come with the flashing tools.
