AM1808: AM1808

Part Number: AM1808
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SK-AM62

I was informed AM 1808 was no longer support
But Here is my thoughts

It's fair not to support obsolete device with obsolete feature no body want to use feature and  not generate any revenue

But it's wise way doing biz to stand be hind all device put on market  some how

Say all solutionson forum  should be save into data base and to be used down the road to support all device put on market

Just search data base for solution match with problem asked

It's huge waste if all effort of all of us on forum over time thrown away and all product at customer using old devicw thrown away

It makes no sense at all to me

We need to find way to honor our commitment to customer

Am I correct ??

CurrentlyI have not only 1 but 3 brd SBC8018 using AM1808

Now I does not afford to buy new Eva Brd per my difficulty in finance

I've worked hard thru my life

In the end with worse health ==>high healcare costtakking all my limitincome

I'm wondering if some how I 'm introduced to some engr somewhere with product using AM1808

So I can play with my 3 SBC8018

Sincere Regards

  • Hi DuyKy,

I have assigned your query to our expert. In the meantime, I found this earlier thread discussing about the demos on AM1808.

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/1021177/am1808-am1808-evm-demo-programs

    Hope this helps.

  • Hello DuyKy

We understand the challenges you maybe facing given limited ability for the support team to support this device family of devices. We have not refreshed the SDKs for these devices  in 5+ years and no one on the support team has any hardware to help you with the problems you are running into.

AFAIK TI does not have an SBCs for this device and the EVM was EOL'd several years back.

If you are developing a new design or project, can we recommend you to use a newer device family like AM62 or using an AM1808 based hardware/software a hard requirement for you?

You mentioned you purchased 3 boards, can you share some details on the boards?

Does it help if TI was to offer a new AM62 based BeaglePlay or SK-AM62   instead for your development needs - I can reach out to you offline if that is the path you want to pursue.

Doing new development with AM18x will be a very bumpy road on these support forums, as have limited ability to give you design support.

Happy to connect with you offline to understand the challenges - if you do not want to share the details of your project and challenges on the public forum.

    Regards

    Mukul
