omap 4460 datasheet

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: 4460

Hi All,

Where can I get datasheet of OMAP 4460 processor?

Thanks and Regards,

Sachin

  • Hi, Sachin,

You can find specs and information on the OMAP4460 processor here.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Erika,

Thanks for responding, but it was a little unhelpful.

That page doesn't even have the word 'datasheet' on it!

Where might we be able to find a datasheet for the OMAP 4460 - assuming one exists.

    Thanks in advance!

    Attie

  • Hi, Attie,

I apologize if this wasn't quite what you were looking for. The page I sent contains all of the public information we have created on the OMAP4460 at this time. If we add additional documents in the future, they will be posted there.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for the update Erika!

Do you know when we can expect datasheets to become available?

I have a project starting soon that will be using this processor and as I'm sure you can imagine, it would be very handy to have!

    Thanks!

    Attie

  • The OMAP documentation can be found on the following page under "technical documentation". Right now I only see a 4460 TRM posted. However, this is where you will find the data manual once it is released.

  • I believe the issue here is a difference in terminology and use of unknown acronyms.

TI uses "TRM" (Technical Reference Manual) instead of "datasheet". The TRM for the 4460 contains >5300 pages and probably contains everything you'll need. If not, there is also the "DM" (Design Manual) which is guidelines for developing hardware.

I'm posting because I was also looking for the "datasheet" and didn't make the connection until I found this thread.

PS:  It should be noted that the previous version of the documents are also available by using the current URL and changing to revision in the title to the one that is desired. For me, we don't know what version of the 4460 will be on the PandaBoards we'll be getting and vO actually changes the ID representation. The version and the appropriate document will be required to know how to interpret what capabilities the board will have. And given that the chip/document has been revised monthly, it is important to quantify every system we get.

PPS: Note that the TRM is entitled "OMAP4460 Multimedia Device Silicon Revision 1.x" which doesn't lend itself very well to knowing this is the datasheet. You have to look at the file name to actually see that it's the TRM. I must say that the page could certainly be implemented better.

  • Hi,

Effectively, OMAP IC technical documentation set is composed of:

    • TRM (Technical Reference Manual) for SW developers
    • DM (Data Manual) for schematics and layout developers
    • Silicon Errata (bugs, limitations, cautions) for all developers
    • PCT (Pin Configuration Tool) for pin configuration and debug
    • CTT (Clock Tree Tool) for clocks configuration and debug
    • and more useful interactive tools coming soon
All these documents are regularly updated and reflect all silicon revisions.
Thank you John for the feedback on document titles, we are taking action for better clarity.
  • Thank you for cleaning up the document page. Much better.
