DM814x ethernet

Hi,

The DM814x datasheet mentioned about an ethernet MAC switch.

It's not clear for me if it's possible to set up 2 independant ethernet interfaces, each having it's own MAC.

In our linux application the processor should act as a router, which means that the 2 ethernet interfaces may not be on a simple switch.

Is my fear correct that a single MAC is integrated?

Best Regards,

Wim

  • Wim,

The DM814x Ethernet subsystem can be configured to appears as 2 individual Ethernet ports at the OS level.

The hardware itself is capable of acting in this mode.

Support for this mode of operation is currently planned for the September/October Linux PSP release.

In this mode IP routing will be definitely possible between ports.

    Regards,

    Benoit
