TDA4VH-Q1: What is the model of TDA4VH expansion board

Part Number: TDA4VH-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VM, TDA4VH

Hi  TI experts,

I want to test the cpsw9G network functions of tda4vh board, but now I only have a GESI expansion board which works well on tda4vm board.

Could I put GESI  expansion board on tda4vh board and test cpsw9G function?

if not,  which type of expansion board  is right for tda4vh board? I would really appreciate that if you could provide me with  documentations about it .

Thank you very much!

Caishuang

  • One port of the CPSW9G is supported on the EVM itself.  The EVM supports 2x 1Gbps Ethernet interfaces, one from CPSW2G in MCU domain and one fromCPSW9G.  If wanting to support more ethernet ports of CPSW9G, the Quad Ethernet Add-on board is needed.   The board supports 4x 1Gbps ports across a single QSGMII interface.  The ethernet ports supported on the GESI are not supported with the TDA4VH EVM.  This is because the TDA4VH has fewer pins available for RGMII, and support more Ethernet using SGMII (rather than RGMII).

  • Hi Robert Eschler,

Thanks for your answers. I also want to make sure something with you.

First thing, You said, for tda4vh board, the EVM supports 2x 1Gbps Ethernet interfaces, one from CPSW2G in MCU domain and one from CPSW9G, but from my test of the board, this 2x 1Gbps Ethernet interfaces, one should be from CPSW2G in MCU domain and another from CPSW2G in main domain. I didn't know the port from CPSW9G is which one, could you make clear about it ?

Second thing, One port of the CPSW9G is supported on the EVM itself, I understand that CPSW9G contains 9 ports, one is host port, which is supported on the EVM itself,  host port hides inside, we cannot see, the other eight ports exist Quad-Port Eth Expansion Board. Do I understand right?

Now, I don't have Quad-Port Eth Expansion Board, is there any ways to test send/receive packets function of host port?

    Thank you very much!

  • From the User Guide picture shows left connector is MAIN (CPSW9G), right connector is MCU (CPSW2G)

Not sure I understand 2nd question.  You can test host port of CPSW9G (internal connection) by generating traffic on the on-board port (MAIN).  The add-on boards is only needed if you want to test more than 1 external port.

  • Hi Robert Eschler,

Thanks again, another question for Quad-Port Eth Expansion Board.

I found a Quad-Port Eth Expansion Board on tda4vm board.  Can I put this Quad-Port Eth Expansion Board on tdavh board to test cpsw9G function?

Are the J721E Quard-port Eth Expansion Board and J784S4 Quard-port Eth Expansion Board  the same? Can they be used each other?

    Thanks,

    Caishuang

  • Yes - same expansion board.  Can be removed from Common Processor board and used on J784S4 EVM.
