SK-AM64: SK-AM64 EVM boot up issue in SD card boot mode

Hi Team,

We are trying to boot AM64x-SK EVM with the SD card.

Steps followed as per AM64x Starter Kit EVM Quick Start Guide (ti.com):

Writing of WIC image on 16 GB SD card using BalenaEtcher.
Boot mode settings in SD card boot mode.
Serial Port USB connection
C port USB connection with 5V - 3A DC adapter.

We are getting the following error on Serial Terminal.

Please provide resolution at the earliest.

I am writing SD card with 'tisdk-default-image-am64xx-evm.wic.xz' image downloaded from PROCESSOR-SDK-AM64X Software development kit (SDK) | TI.com.

SDK Version: 09.00.00.03

Can you confirm that you have the same board as below, SK-AM64B (M1 version).

The default wic image has the initial tiboot3.bin binary (in the boot partition on the SD card) for HS-FS device from SDKv8.4 onwards.

Since the boot is failing with this image, there are chances that you might be using a GP board.

If so, you need to use the binary for GP device (tiboot3-am64x-gp-evm.bin). Rename GP device binaries to tiboot3.bin, rename the initial binaries to some other name and try booting again.

Can you please highlight how to rebuild the wic image to use the binary for GP device (tiboot3-am64x-gp-evm.bin)?

Hi Radha,

Let me clarify what I meant, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to the boot partition in your SD card, there will be a tiboot3.bin file -> rename it to something else.

2. Rename the tiboot3-am64x-gp-evm.bin file to tiboot3.bin.

3. Eject the SD card, insert it in the board and power on the board.
