Question about the CVDD and CVDD1 Power supply of C6670L

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCD9244, UCD7242, UCD9222

Hi ALL,

The follow figure is the Reference Design from the Hardware Design Guide for KeyStone Device.pdf Page 76.

The UCD9244 have Four-Output Non-Isolated DC/DC PWM Controller, So with two UCD7242, it is seemed that this scheme can support four C66XX DSPs.

But, this scheme just give the CVDD Power supply, How to provide power supply to CVDD1?

And the solution of the C6670L Board is as follow:

The UCD9222 just have two -Output Non-Isolated DC/DC PWM Controller, so with UCD7242 just provide supply for one DSP device.

CVDD and CVDD1 are control by the UCD9222.

------------------------------------------------------------------

From two scheme, we can see C6670L use Smart Reflex for CVDD and CVDD1, but the TI's reference Design just use Smart Reflex for  CVDD.

Can the CVDD1 Pins be supplied without Smart Reflex, just fixed power supply?

Thank you very much!

  • xiang song,

On the C6670, CVDD is controlled by SmartReflex and CVDD1 is a fixed voltage supply.

The VID pin interface is required for SmartReflex and there was not a single-channel version of the UCD9222. It was convenient to use the UCD7242 to supply the SR-controlled CVDD as well as the fixed CVDD1.

Your picture is misleading in that it implies the VCNTL pins are used for CVDD1, but they are used for CVDD.

    Regards,
    RandyP
