AM69A: XFI port speed

Part Number: AM69A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM69

I am trying to understand the capability of the XFI. There appears to be some inconsistency regarding the rate at which it works.

In the datasheet, SPRSP92A – FEBRUARY 2023 – REVISED AUGUST 2023, on page 2 it shows

Two ports support 5Gb, 10Gb USXGMII or 5Gb XFI

In the Technical Reference Manual, SPRUJ52C – JUNE 2022 – REVISED JULY 2023, on page 4 it shows the same line

Two ports support 5Gb, 10Gb USXGMII or 5Gb XFI

On page 1516 (12.2.5.1.1 SerDes Features) it shows

SGMII, QSGMI, XAUI (2.5G SGMII), USXGMII(5G/10G), XFI(5G/10G)

And there are other references to USXGMII/ XFI working at 5G/10G.

To my knowledge, XFI is a 10G standard only.

Please could you check that the XFI interface does indeed work at 10G.

Thanks,

Tim

  • Hi,

Yes, you are correct XFI supports 10G speed.

In the datasheet, SPRSP92A – FEBRUARY 2023 – REVISED AUGUST 2023, on page 2 it shows

Above could be documentation issue, You can use XFI and 5G/10G speed (but these XFI/USXGMII interfaces supported by only Port-1, Port-2 in AM69).
