Q1.
I saw in E2E's reply that the ULC 3rd party list will be published on the web. When is it scheduled to be released?

Q2.
Is there any information regarding waterproofing for lens cleaning? I'm concerned about whether vibration will create gaps and how far it can pass the IP test.

Q3.
I believe it depends on the piezo used, but do you have any information on the product's lifespan? Will piezos deteriorate? Also, does vibration affect the product's lifespan? Is there a possibility that the glass may break due to long-term vibration due to the stress placed on it?

    Thanks for reaching out. 

    1. We have a third party page with HPB. You can find it here. More third party pages will become available in the future. 

    2. We do not have any test information on this data. TI's prototype systems are not final products. While TI is investing in the development of these mechanical systems, we will not own the mechanical system. Your company (not TI) will be responsible for developing and testing the mechanical system.

    3. We do tests on our LCS prototype of 10,000 cleaning cycles to ensure their durability, but this is as far as our lifespan testing goes as they are not final products. In general, the lifespan will be heavily influenced by the driving on the lens cover. What we have seen is that over driving the lens cover causes deluging of the lens cover and piezo which makes it unfunctional. The manufacturing and testing of the LCS will ultimately need to be owned by the customer and will not be owned by TI.

    When will it be published on the web? A customer has requested a list of ULC third party information, and I would like to know if there is any information or materials that I can send to them.I would especially like to know more about piezo manufacturers.


    After purchasing the EVM and verifying vibration modes, etc., what steps should customers consider to incorporate ULC into their applications? Is the following understanding broadly correct?
    1. Mechanism design (lens size and thickness)
    2. Piezo selection
    3. Assembly
    4. Verification of operation with EVM+ their lens cover system

    Also I believe that piezo selection is one of the key points in the four steps above. Do they need to perform any simulations before selecting a piezo?

    What we have seen is that over driving the lens cover causes deluging of the lens cover and piezo which makes it unfunctional.

    My understanding is that the piezo is located inside the lens cover, as shown in the below image, and is not placed in a place where it will be directly exposed to water. I would like to know more about the piezo becoming wet due to vibration and becoming inoperable. For example, does this mean that the piezo may be damaged if used in continuous mode in heavy rain?

    We do not have exact dates for the new partner pages. 

    To make their own LCS, I’d recommend reaching out to TDK, APC, Steminc, Ceramtec, Murata or Audiowell. Currently, our LCS has been made with transducers from APC and Steminc and here are the exact part numbers:

    Doing simulation before making the lens cover system is very important and will have a high impact on the whole mechanical design. This is recommended before doing any assembly. Do you have access to the ULC-DESIGN secure resources page on ti.com? This page has information on LCS mechanical design. 

    Yes the piezo is located inside the lens cover. When I referred to the de gluing that makes the LCS inoperable, this does not involve the piezo becoming wet. The de gluing is seen when the LCS is over driven. We have no information on the piezo becoming wet.
