USB bandwidth issue on DM365

Dear All:

I use a UVC web cam in bulk mode to connect to DM365 and DM365 is set to host mode.

When I set the resolution in CIF (320x240, 30fps) with uncompressed format (UYVY), it works OK.

However, when I set the resolution to uncompressed VGA (640x480, 30fps),

only 2/3 of each frame is successfully transmitted.

There seems to be a bandwidth limit of DM365 USB host controller.

Is there anyway to enhance the bandwidth of USB?

Will the higher bus priority, faster DDR clock or anything else can do it?

We are using DM365 300MHz.

Any suggestion will be welcome.

Best regards,

Ray

  • Ray,

Pl. ensure that you have the DMA enabled.  What is the throughput need at uncompressed VGA ?  Pl. also note that your app on top of the USB stack should also be able to process the received stream at that rate.

From the description of the issue it appears that you are running out of processing power or a part of your streams are getting lost/corrupted.
