TDA4VH-Q1: CPSW9G and External PCIe Switch

Part Number: TDA4VH-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VH

Hello,

I need to use an external switch in addition to the CPSW9G in the TDA4VH. I know if I connect this over XFI I will be able to easily route traffic between the two devices. However, for performance reasons I would like to connect the external switch over PCIe. If my external switch is connected over PCIe will I be able to route traffic between the internal switch and the external switch without the CPU forwarding the traffic? Or does the external switch need to be connected over XFI to forward the traffic in hardware.

Thank you,

Jeremy

  • Hi Jeremy,

This would not be possible in hardware. The routing in this case has to be done by the network stack on A72. For you to utilize the hardware forwarding, you have to connect the switch to one of the port in CPSW9G.
