Viewable in IE: Question on “ENC clock”

Hi,

There are many places in spru952a, TMS320DM643x DMP Video Processing Back End (VPBE) User's Guide, that the term "ENC clock" appears. Several of its occurrences are shown in the figure 1 below.

I have some questions on this "ENC clock" here:

1.    Although there are descriptions about various clock inputs for VPBE as shown in figure 2 above, there is no single, unambiguous definition of "ENC clock" in the whole document. In programming languages C, before using any variable it must be declared/defined first, and I think the same rule apply to terms in the document. So where is the definition for term "VENC clock" at first? Is it equivalent to VENC output clock VCLK?

2.    Refer to Table 3 and Table 4 in figure 1.

(1)  For SDTV NTSC, there are 1683-243=1440 ENC clocks for every line

(2)  For Progressive/EDTV 525p, there are 842-122=720 ENC clocks for every line

1440 = 720×2, why there is the two multiple difference for ENC clock count here?

Thanks,

Zheng
