AM625: Inquiry Regarding Processor Selection for Image Capture and Transmission Application

Our application involves a processor tasked with capturing images upon motion detection, validating human motion, storing the images in an SD card, transmitting them to another module via RF interface, and sending data to a server using an LTE module. Additionally, there is a requirement for a display module capable of listing and displaying these images.

We kindly request your assistance in providing detailed information regarding the capabilities of both Processors concerning the following criteria:

Image Capture and Processing:

Ability to capture images upon motion detection and validate human motion effectively.

Storage and Transmission:

Support for storing captured images in an SD card, transmitting them to another module via RF interface, and facilitating data transfer to a server using an LTE module.

*SDK Support:

Availability and functionalities of Software Development Kits (SDKs) for seamless integration and development.

Power Consumption:
Individual power consumption profiles for each module in relation to the aforementioned functionalities.

The power consumption includes “Motion sensors, IR sensors, Night vision sensor, RF Transceivers, Display and LTE Module”. What might be the maximum power and Current consumption criteria for above processors with the mentioned modules?

We seek comprehensive insights into these aspects to make an informed decision aligning with the specific needs of our application. Additionally, any technical documentation, support materials, or roadmap insights would be immensely valuable in our evaluation process.

    Based on the functions you described here, may I ask a few questions regarding to your target spec for the device:

    1> Camera interface - is CSI camera preferred or parallel one? or USB Camera needed?

    2> SD/EMMC interfaces support. 

    3> RF interface support -> is it UART?

    4> LTE module -> is it USB 2.0 or USB 3.0?

    5> Display -> is it RGB888 display panel?

    Regarding to the SDK support - usually the SDK contains all the device peripherals drivers.

    Power consumption, our 16nm device usually has great power efficiency can be the best choice.

    Ans. Camera Interface-  planning for MIPI CSI camera.

    2> SD/EMMC interfaces support. 

    Ans. We need SD interface support.

    3> RF interface support -> is it UART?

    Ans. RF Interface support- SPI interface

    4> LTE module -> is it USB 2.0 or USB 3.0?

    Ans. LTE Module- UART interface

    5> Display -> is it RGB888 display panel?

    Ans. Display- We are expecting support for the display with Graphics (to display all the available files from the SD card)

    According to your feedback, I'd recommend you to check below two options:

    1. AM623: https://www.ti.com/product/AM623

    2. AM62A3:https://www.ti.com/product/AM62A3 or AM62A7 https://www.ti.com/product/AM62A7

    Both of them can support the spec requirement. 

    The differentiation are AM623 is using ARM for the motion analysis algorithm, while AM62A3/7 is using the AI accelerator (DSP) for the algorithm implementation, which will provide much higher AI performance benefit real time analysis. AM62A3 is 1 TOP device vs AM62A7 is 2 TOPs.

    Depending on your current motion analysis implementation, you may want to make the choice between ARM and AI accelerator first, then decide where you'd like to further evaluate.

    Can we know what's the exact difference between AM62A3 and AM62A7. We would like to go with AM62A3 processor.

    We would like to know exact or approximate power consumption with aforementioned applications.
