How does one determine the proper inputs to this function:

Uint32 DEVICE_ExternalMemInit(Uint32 ddrphycr, Uint32 sdcr, Uint32 sdtimr, Uint32 sdtimr2, Uint32 sdrcr, Uint32 sdcr2)

I've looked over the datasheet and I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

The arguments to the function are registers in the DDR memory interface. If you look at the users guide for the DDR memory controller, it tells you what the fields in the registers mean. For the AM180x family, the guide is sprufu3a.
