Error: The controller has detected a target power loss. eZdsp 5515

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C5515

Hi,

I brought a new TMS320C5515 eZdsp USB Stick ( I can't understand the version, on box sticker has the following infos : TMX320C5515 eZDSP v2 USB STICK, TMX320C5515 EZDSP MULTI-RELEASES, 702359-1001 REV B, but the pcb has a marking for rev A on backside), since the accompanying cd is not readable, I downloaded new version of CCS (Version: 4.2.4.00033, platinum) and installed. Now I tried to connect the board with the CCS according to the quick start guide
http://support.spectrumdigital.com/boards/usbstk5515/reva/files/USBSTK5515_QuickStartGuide.pdf

I followed the configuration instructions except for XDS100 which is not listed in the menu, so XDS1002 v2 is slected for target configuration, but when I launch the debug, the first error message is

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -1143 @ 0x5F)
Device memory bus has an error and may be hung. Verify that the memory address is in valid memory. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK).
(Release 5.0.429.0)

I clicked on retry, then the error message is

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -180 @ 0x0)
The controller has detected a target power loss.
The user must turn-on or connect the power supply for the target.
(Release 5.0.429.0)

I think the eZusb is powered from the JTAG usb port, and no additional power is given. Also while retrying the same error is coming.

The Windows device manager shows TI XDS100 channel A & B with a VID 0x0403 & PID 0xA6D0 for connected board.

Please help to solve the issue.

  • Hi,

Have you include gel file correctly through your target settings?

JTAG power is enough for running eZdsp board.

    Regards,

    Hyun

  • Hi,

I used the LED example from spectrum digital (http://support.spectrumdigital.com/boards/usbstk5515_v2/reva/files/usbstk5515_BSL_RevA.zip), and gel file with the same. I use "file->import" the led folder to the ccs. GEL file with the same is attached here.

    Thanking You,

    Ras

  • Hi,

When using gel file (usbstk5515.gel) in the folder "<CCS installation dir>//emulation/boards/usbstk5515_v1/gel" it connected initially, and after 2 or 3 times of connect/reconnect the problem starts, thereafter I can't get connected even board unplugged and plugged again also ccs restarted.

    Thanking You,

    Ras

  • Hi,

I used FTClean to unistall XDS100 drivers and reinstall CCS v4, then pluggin the board to USB, ther drivers installed correctly. But after this point the board never connected to CCS, always gives erros

The controller has detected a target power loss.
The user must turn-on or connect the power supply for the target.

I think this board doesn't works with newer CCS? and it wastes lot of my time.

  • Hi,

I used DBGJTAG gui tool and tries to reset the emulator, the result is

  • Hello !!

    We get this error :

The controller has detected a target power loss.
The user must turn-on or connect the power supply for the target.

Because, We need to connect the USB cable from the PC to the XDS100 hardware. and then Connect the JTAG to the target board, before  powered the borad with 5V input through either J1

else if the board is powred before connecting the jtag emulator we get this error.

    This answred is verified.

Please verify these answer to close this thread.

    Think you !!
