PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62A: Linux, RTOS, etc… is supported as Functional Safety ?

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM62A7, TDA4VL

Hi Expert,

My customer is now developing their product with AM62A7 and TDA4VL.

Processor SDK (Linux, RTOS, etc…) is supported as Functional Safety ?

Is it possible to use it for Functional Safety system ?

What operating systems support Functional Safety?

Thanks

Daniel

  • Hello,

AM62A is targeted for functional safety systems for automotive and industrial. We are targeting ASIL-B/SIL-2 on this device and there is a plan for safety certification.

As far as software is concerned, as part of TISDK, the following safety software is available

    1. SDL (software diagnostic library) to control the hardware diagnostics on the device (safety certified to ASIL-D/SIL-3)

    2. MCAL - MCU Abstraction Layer (safety certified to ASIL-D/SIL-3)

    3. Safety checkers for TI Firmware such as TIFS, Device Manager - this will be available in 1Q 2024 (safety certified to ASIL-D/SIL-3).

Safe OS are not part of the TI SDK - this will need to be procured from our 3P vendors. Operating systems that support functional safety are AutoSAR for MCU R5, Safe RTOS, QNX or GHS Integrity for A53.

Is this for industrial or auto application?
