AM6442: EtherNET/IP Support

Can you please be a little more specific. What is your network topology? Are you following the steps in https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-industrial-sw/esd/ind_comms_sdk/am64x/latest/docs/am64x/ethernetip_adapter/eip_codesys_a_r_m64_example.html and https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=A__ARR1V9l9zZQMadIP6G0bmA__AM24X-ACADEMY__ZPSnq-h__LATEST .

1. AM64x running Linux RT and Codesys as the EtherNet/IP scanner using defauld SD card image? Please copy paste the exact commands you run on this board. 

2. AM243x running MCU+ as EtherNet/IP adapter ? Just one or multiple. https://www.ti.com/tool/LP-AM243 or https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDS64GPEVM boards ?

The test set up is on Private network(Tp-link router)both PC and Scanner on same network as following the exmple provide in the link EtherNet_IP (ti.com)

Following setup is used in the test

1. PC windows 11 - Codesys  version3.5 

2. AM64x EVM -  HSFS as Scanner running CODESYS control for Arm64SL(4.9.0.0)

3. AM64x EVM -HSFS as adapter running EthernetIP adapter generic device rgmii example from industrial sdk 9.00.00.03 on CCStudio 12.4

static IP address is set in linux for adapter i.e. Eth1

Following same steps as in the link EtherNet/IP Adapter: CODESYS Runtime on a Texas Instruments AM64x Sitara Processor

Failing to scan adapter device after entering online mode and starting application.

It's coming blank without any error.

So looks like AM64x running Codesys is fine including connecting to Windows based Codesys engineering tool. I'm assuming you use eth0 for that, eth1 is what you have as 192.168.1.25/24 and where the EtherNet/IP adapter AM64x is.

Did you follow the step (in https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-industrial-sw/esd/ind_comms_sdk/am64x/latest/docs/am64x/ethernetip_adapter/eip_codesys_a_r_m64_example.html ):

Before configuring the EtherNet/IP network, the matching device description file must be installed into the CODESYS device repository. Navigate to Tools → Device Repository in the menu system and install the file am64x-evm_tiEtherNetIP_freeRTOS.eds which is part of the distribution.

"

that is the matching example you have loaded to the EtherNet/IP adaptor AM64x.

Hi Sonu,

Double check that you in fact did connect the physical port for the eth1 interface of the AM64x EVM with the AM64x EVM running with the EtherNetIp adapter device example. From what I have seen before when using Codesys, is that if you connected the incorrect physical port, you would not see any devices during Scan Devices.

eth0(cpsw) is connected to router.

steps has been followed exactly the same way mentioned in the link.

Device description has also been installed.

Is there anything else i can try to make it work.

When running adapter program below output i'm getting.

Physical port is connected properly. 

On scanner:

eth0 - connected to enterprise network, where there is Windows Codesys - looks like this connection is fine (physically the single RJ-45)
eth1 - directly connected to AM64x running adapter loaded with CCS (physically the top RJ-45 of the dual connector)

Can you go to scanner command prompt (for example ssh from Windows), run ip address and ping 192.168.1.10 . What does the first command show, and does ping work?

Do you have a Ethernet tap such as Profishark ? If you do insert it between adapter and scanner. If you click scan devices do you see the scanner sending something? If you don't have a tap, using another terminal (for example ssh from your Windows machine), run tcpdump -n -e -i eth1 when you click scan devices, is something observed on the interface?

We tried pinging 192.168.1.10 below is the snapshot.

Also for other part after running tcpdump -n -e -i eth1 below output we got.

Ok so looks like the AM243-LP is not there, it is not responding to ping. So your AM64x at address 192.168.1.25 is not able to ping AM243-LP at address 192.168.1.10.

What are the MAC addresses of your port on AM243x-LP and then eth1 of the AM64x. In the TCP dump I see a broadcast from 70:ff:76:1e:e7:80 and a multicast from 34:08:e1:80:a3:30 trying to figure out who is sending these.
