Hello,

We are designing a custom board with AM6234 processor. We are adding an eMMC flash storage chip for storage and booting. What is the process for booting the board the very first time?

Hi Santosh,

What boot media do you have on your custom board apart from eMMC? Like SD card/UART etc..

Can you follow the instructions provided in the Academy for flashing the Linux images on eMMC:

Develop Linux on TI EVM -> Flash Linux on EMMC

Hello Suren,

Apart from eMMC we are planning to have UART.

Thanks for the instructions, I think these instructions are done after booting into the board, am I correct? I'm wondering about how to get the initial access into the board so that I can flash the eMMC?

Hi Santosh,

You can boot u-boot from uart and then when you have the prompt, you can flash the kernel and rootfs on eMMC.

Thank you Suren. I'm also planning to order https://www.ti.com/product/en-US/SK-AM62-LP/part-details/SK-AM62-LP. Would I be able to test the same scenario on the EVM? That is boot from u-boot and then flash the kernel to eMMC?

Yes Santosh, you should be able to test it on SK-AM62-LP board as well.
