Dear Sir,

DM3730 can perform H.264 720p 30FPS encode on Linux platform with TI DVSK? or need 3rd party video codec?

Not encode of H.264 720p30fps. The DM3730 will support H.264 720p30fps decode base profile. For encode, the DM3730 (1GHz) will support H.264 D1 @30fps encode base profile.

According to the release notes, DVSDK 4.02 added a 720p H.264 encode codec, in March 2011. Can you confirm?

Which clock frequency DM3730s support 720p30 H.264 encode?

Hello Andrew,

Base on the information I am seeing on latest sdk_4_03 software dev guide there is support for 720P 30 (base profile only) encode. Also based on the information at: http://www.ti.com/tool/linuxdvsdk-dm37x this is supported.

DSP accelerated codecs: JPEG Encode/Decode, MPEG4 SP Encode/Decode (up to 720P), H.264 BP Encode/Decode (up to 720P), MPEG2 MP Decode (Dup to 720P), G.711 Encode/Decode, AAC LC/HE Decode, MP3 Decode

Support is only for: DM3730 (1GHz/800Mhz)

Further on the website, there is information, containing the following:

Multimedia codecs -The DVSDK provides codec libraries and associated AV clips that enable developers to immediately develop and evaluate real-world applications. These codecs may be in dedicated hardware (DM355S), DSP-accelerated or a combination of both. Most are available for download now, along with the DVSDK.

So is than really sure that the H.264 BP Encode/Decode (up to 720P) is included?
