Putting an OMAP or AM Sitara onto a PCIe card

folks, hi,

i'm evaluating the feasibility and costings for putting an OMAP or an AM Sitara - any one which has a PowerVR 3D Graphics Engine - onto a PCI-e card.  form-factor will be either standard PCI-e cards or the MiniPCIe 50mm x 30mm format.

how can this be achieved?  it does not matter which ARM CPU is chosen, as long as the data rate is fast enough (hence, PCIe but USB-3.0 would also be acceptable)  the target power budget for the whole card should ideally be around 2 watts.

i have looked at ULPI and it might do the job, but then a PCI-e ULPI PHY chip is needed.

does anyone have any recommendations?

thank you in advance.

  • ok i have discovered for example the OXPCIe200 http://www.plxtech.com/products/uart/oxpcie200

but i have no idea if this 60mhz 8-bit on ULPI is the absolute hard limit, or if there is an OMAP or AM Sitara which can do better.  or if there is an OMAP or AM Sitara which already has a PCI-e interface.  or... etc. etc.

so this is completely open, the goal is: just get a CPU with a 3D Graphics GPU on it onto a PCIe card, in preferably under 2 watts.
