AM620-Q1: Maximum Baud Rate for UART

Hi Paul,

I checked the datasheet and I have verified yes it does say 12 Mbps.

SysConfig also says that maximum configurable is 3692300.

I will raise a JIRA for this and check internally. I will follow up here on E2E with updates on this.

Just checking in. Any updates? If it turns out that this microprocessor UART doesn't support the speed we need, I will need to let our customer know in the next week ideally (it may have an impact on the design).

I have noticed that in the TRM for AM62x, the baud rate mentions 12 Mbps for PRUSS UART. Please find attached screenshot below:

I see, thank you Vaibhav for bringing this to my attention.

So the conclusion to draw from this is that the 12Mbps speed is only obtainable using the PRUSS UART module (where there only seem to be 2 UART channels). Whereas the general UART module is only as good as 3.6Mbps. Is this conclusion accurate?

I was doing more reading looking for some information for my co-worker and just so happened to find this in the TRM:

I'm not saying it is a contradiction, but it seems to contradict our conclusion. Can you help explain this?  Thank you.

Sounds good. In your response, in light of this new information from the dev team, please reiterate whether or not the 12 Mbps is achievable on the AM6204-Q1 and how it can be achieved (if possible). That is the key information that I need before moving forward with my project.

We are checking the possibility of PRUSS UART at 12 Mbps in TMDS64EVM, and if its supported there, I will check the porting effort it will take.
