TMDSEVM5517: Connection with on-board emulator

Hi,

I tried installing CCS 8.3.1. But I could not build the bf_rt_bios program.

Hence I tried connecting through external XDS100V2 emulator through J8.

I target connection is getting succeeded, launching is also taking place. But when I try to connect from debug window it is generating the error.

Can you please guide me on how to use an external XDS100V2 emulator for real time debugging.

I am able to connect with an XDS100v2 connect to J8:

Based on your error message, it looks like the device is in a bad state.

Are you able to connect using the on-board XDS510 via J3?

Hello,

Can you share the EVM pic to ensure the jumper settings.

Because with XDS100V2 emulator, the test connection was successful, launching the debug window is also successful. But generating the error when trying to connect target from debug window.

I'm not able to see XDS510 option in the target selection window.

Is the on on-board emulatorXDS510 or XDS560?

It is a XDS510. Please see the image in my first post for the connection type you need to use.

Could you please help me to identify the reason behind the error - 1023@0x5F. I have gone through the following link.

I could find all other codes but not this one. Can you please help me to resolve this issue. I'll try to update if there is some selection to be modified in EVM HW.

It is a low level JTAG failure. This error is not as common and is undocumented. The root cause is unknown.

Did you try using the onboard XDS510 connection as I mentioned earlier?

Is there any other way to identify the root cause, kindly let me know.

I'm not able to get XDS510 option in CCS 12.

bf rtos program is building with CCS8 version which you provided.

You are using the wrong connection for the onboard XDS510. Did you see the image in my first post? 

You need to use the one I highlighted in my image below:

Note that I am not an expert on this board. However I noticed some of your jumper and switch setting are different than mine. Try matching mine exactly.
