USB CDC device driver for 6746

Hi,

I need to use USB on TMS320C6746 as a CDC class to communicate with the PC on virtual COM. I downloaded biosusb_01_10_03 which only supports HID and MSD.

Can anyone please clarify the following queries ?

1. What VID/PID has to be used for 6746?

2. From where can I get the inf file to support virtual COM?

3. To my knowledge, there is no CDC code support available from TI. In that case, is there any documentation which can be used to modify/write the class driver for CDC?

Your should use a VID that refer to your organization and you are free to use any PID that you decide for the end product. Please dont use VID/PID that refers to TI or any of TI's EVMs.

You can refer to HID example code as a referance for your own development. But that is generally perceived as difficult. You can also contact JUNGO to get this class driver.

Does that mean TI does not provide VID/PID for this family of processors like it does for Stellaris and Sitara? Could you please tell me where this important piece of information is documented?

TI does provide USB CDC class driver for Stellaris family. Can you please let me know your suggestion on porting this code on 6746?

I would like to consider buying from JUNGO as a last option.

SW that TI provides will use a TI VID and a PID that TI assigned for the EVM/product category. But you should change the values to your own VID and PIDs. Please refer to http://www.usb.org/developers/usbfaq#12

TI is also working internally to port this driver to C6748. You might see the official announcement/release in next couple of months.

Chris,

We have an early-adopter release of this software package available for OMAP-L138 and C6748 devices, including USB device mode support for the CDC class. The offiical release will be in late October. Note that changes will happen to the package between the two releases, so if that's a concern you may choose to wait for the official release.

Please send an email to c6swlib_dev@list.ti.com and we can provide access to the prelim release.

To confirm. You said device mode CDC. I need host mode CDC. Will that also be available with the same timing?

Does early release of this package actually exist?

OctalRules: At the moment this is device mode only. Host mode is not currently planned, though that could change in the future.

The driver mentioned in the e2e post refers to the Starterware driver for C6748. Documentation and download links are provided below:

Please note this software only applies to C6748/OMAPL138 and has not been ported to C6747/OMAPL137 devices.
