Guru 11450 points
Part Number: DRA821U-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750, DRA821U

Hello,

The customer plans to design DRA821U and TPS25750 as shown in the block diagram below to support the functions below.

   1. Supports SINK function to drive development board using external battery

   2. Supports HS Data communication by connecting a PC or Linux device to the USB port.

Q1. Please give your opinion on whether there are any problems with the above design from a processor perspective.

Q2. Is it okay to set USB_DRVVBUS to NC? If not, please guide us on where to connect.

Thank you.

  • I'm not completely clear on how TPS25750D will be used.  You show both a 5V/6A source to device as well as a 10V/8A source FROM the device.  Which mode do you plan to support (sourcing power to USB or getting power from USB)?

Regarding connections with DRA821U - the TPS25750D control logic for sourcing VBUS is automatic based on CC pins ad PP5V voltage and does not require external enabling via external controller (like DRVVBUS).  Are you wanting manual control via software to enable?
