PROCESSOR-SDK-AM64X: Sysconfig tool missing board view button

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM64X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG, SK-AM64B

Hi All,

I am using the sysconfig tool inside ccs and standalone version 1.17 and I am looking for the "board view" button as described here https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/sysconfig/docs/guide/custom-board.html#completely-eliminating-board-constraints-and-working-at-the-device-package-level so that we can port from one of the examples inside the SDK to use on our custom board. Is it possible for anyone to point me in the right direction?

I am using ccs 12.5 and mcu_plus_sdk_am64x_09_00_00_35

If there is any further documentation for sysconfig where would it be located?

Cheers

steve

  • Hello Steve,

Thank you for reaching out to Texas Instruments E2E support forum.

I have taken your inputs and working on it. Please allow some time to revert back.

  • Hello Steve,

    Thanks for your patience.

I have checked the details internally. The MCU+SDK of MPU devices does not uses board, thus board view button is not available for MPU devices.

    Tushar

  • Hi Tushar,

Sorry, I do not understand what you mean? I was trying to add a 16bit GPMC device for our custom board via SysConfig and the only option was 8bit.

Looking at the help I linked before it seemed to state that using the "board view" button was a way of removing board specific restrictions. How do I achieve this with no "board view" button? Or is there another way of adding a 16but GPMC device?

Is there any documentation or guides on moving away from the example code given in the MCU+SDK for the AM64x?

    Cheers

    Steve

  • Hello Steve,

Currently, in MCU+SDK, we support only 8-bit since we interfaced an NAND device, which is 8-bit.

    Regards,

    S.Anil.

  • Hi S.Anil,

Are you saying that the SDK does not support an 8-bit interface at all? Or is this all just based around the start kit board (SK-AM64B) and SysConfig is just a tool for getting an application up and running on the SK board? And we shouldn't be looking at SysConfig to help setting up our custom board if it differs in anyway from the SK board?

If you cannot guess I am quite new to using TI tools and I am struggling to find documentation on how to use and what the use case is for SysConfig.

    Cheers

    Steve

  • Hi Steve,

Sorry, I do not understand what you mean?

Apologies for the unclear statement. The MCU+SDK of MPU devices does not defines boards as other devices like SimpleLink and MSP. It only defines the device view.

Therefore the board view button is not visible in Sysconfig GUI.

    Regards,

    Tushar

  • Hello Steeve,

Are you saying that the SDK does not support an 8-bit interface at all

Currently, the MCU+SDK is only supporting 8-bit interfacing as we interfaced GPMC NAND device which itself is 8-bit.

SysConfig is just a tool for getting an application up and running on the SK board

SysConfig provides an intuitive graphical user interface for configuring pins, peripherals, radios, software stacks, RTOS, clock tree and other components.

And we shouldn't be looking at SysConfig to help setting up our custom board if it differs in anyway from the SK board?

For custom board addition, please refer PDK guide for custom-board-addition.

    Regards,

    Tushar
