TDA4VM: Where is the R5 SPL source code

1. I run linux on TDA4, using the default ti-processor-sdk-linux-j7-evm-08_06_00_11/board-support/ build-images /tiboot3.bin, I read the documentation that this tiboot3 is r5 spl
2. I want to update tispl.bin via AB partition, in order to do this I need a level above tispl, which is the r5 spl operation flag bit, but I can't find the tiboot3 source code in linux
sdk is only pre-compiled, I want to change the tiboot3 code, I did not find this source code in the RTOS SDK, \packages\ti\boot\sbl path only SBL boot-related
3. Can you help me answer the following questions?

Hi,

R5 SPL and A72 SPL/U-Boot unified code repository is under:

board-support/u-boot-2021.01* directory.

'make u-boot' command will recompile the boot binaries.

Lot of files that are specific to TDA4VM R5 SPL will be here.

I want OTA to update tispl.bin, using AB partition, check the flag bit before pulling up tispl.bin firmware, if the update succeeds, execute tispl.bin of partition A, if not, execute tispl.bin of partition B, do you know where the code of pulling up tispl.bin is？

Hi,

By default AB is not supported. The R5 SPL detects the boot media and it tries to pick the tispl.bin from the boot media. What is your boot media? Where will you have the A/B partition?

I want to start through EMMC and put two copies of tispl.bin on emmc

Hi,

If you are considering boot0 Vs boot1 partition of eMMC. That is not supported as once the boot partition is set then we only pick from that and at runtime we cannot read from the other partition.

1.OTA update tispl.bin, mcu1_0 Set flag bit in flash after successful startup.

2. After the system is restarted, tiboot3 checks whether this flag bit is successfully set. If not, it starts the backup tispl.bin.

Both tispl.bin are on the same boot partition. Of course, the default boot0 should be able to hold two tispl.bin

Hi,

It will be a custom feature that you will need to own. If I understood correctly, You will burn v1 of tispl.bin to offset1 of boot partition. v2 of tispl.bin to offset2 of boot partition. In theory it should be possible but you will need to hack R5 SPL to get tispl.bin from different offsets based on the magic bit.

Yes, but I don't understand the r5 spl code very well at present, do you know where the operation to pull tispl.bin is? I in ti - processor - SDK - Linux - j7 - evm entry - 08 _06_00_11 / board - support/u - the boot - 2021.01 + gitAUTOINC + 62 a9e51344 g62a9e51344 / the arch/arm/Mach -k3/j721e_init.c contains only about sysfw, but does not find about tispl.bin. Do you know that tispl.bin is raised in a function code?

Hi,

Checkout the file: common/spl/spl.c

Function: board_init_r

Finally its a fit image so it should be calling: spl_load_simple_fit

Please add debug prints and you should be able to figure out.
