I have been able to successfully build and run the tisdk-default-image after fixing the issues with the distribution. The resulting image has limited number of python packages installed. Under meta-openembedded/meta-python recipes for the packages I am interested in. I have tried several different ways to get them included without success, usually the build fails. Still trying to figure out relationships between all the packagegroups and recipes. Can someone provide what I have to do get the recipes for the python packages included in the build.
