AM625: POWER SUPPLY DESIGN WITH PMIC & WITHOUT PMIC BASED DESIGN

Part Number: AM625
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SK-AM62, SK-AM62-LP, TPS65219, SK-AM62B-P1

1. We are working on design of AM6254 Processor and we need to give POE & 12 Volt DC Jack as input power source and NOT Type C USB.
So We have checked both EVK SK-AM62 without PMIC [PROC114E3]  & SK-AM62-LP with PMIC [PROC124E2A] Ref. schematic and we need your suggestions on which one is suitable & more reliable for our design.
2. We preferred to go with PMIC part which used in SK-AM62-LP with PMIC [PROC124E2A] so want to know availability of PMIC PTPS6521920WRHBRQ1 part for design and please confirm that we can go with this PMIC part in our design. Share your suggestion.
3. We request you to provide POE [12W] & DC [12V & 1A] based power supply ref. schematic.
- Since we are providing both POE & DC supply as an input source, for that we need to provide power muxing so suggest Muxing IC and provide ref. design for the same.
  • Hello Hemal Patel

    Thank you for the query.

I saw a similar query where is suggested to split the questions.

For Q.2 i will assign to the PMIC team and will request them to assign to the POE team.

  • Hi,

Is this for an automotive or non-automotive application? We have multiple TPS65219 part numbers that are pre-configured to support different application requirements and use cases. TPS6521920 supports automotive applications using AM62x-Q1 (17x17mm AMC package), VDD_CORE=0.75V and LPDDR4. Below are the PMIC resources that are available. Let us know if there are any questions.

    • SK-AM62B-P1: https://www.ti.com/tool/SK-AM62B-P1
      • Uses AM62x processor (13x13mm ALW package)
      • Uses TPS6521904 (non-automotive applications, VDD_CORE=0.85V, DDR4)
      • This EVM can be modified to use TPS6521903 (non-automotive applications, VDD_CORE=0.75V, DDR4)

    Thanks,

    Brenda

  • Hii,

    Thanks for the response.

Our application is non-automotive and TPS6521903 (non-automotive applications, VDD_CORE=0.75V, DDR4) seems more suitable for application so we are considering this part in our design.

    > We request you to provide POE [12W] & DC [12V & 1A] based power supply ref. schematic

  • Hi,

I'm not sure if I understand the request in your previous message. The design files from the AM62 starter kit is what we have available to assist the design process for applications using the TPS65219 PMIC to power the AM62 processor.

Are you looking for a pre-regulator to convert from 12V to 5V or 3.3V?

    Thanks,

    Brenda
