PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X: Test GP Images in AM62x EVM

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X

Hi Team,

Our custom board have GP SoC and i want to replicate the same environment in AM62x Evm. As per my understanding we have EVM have HS device. Could you please let me know how I can test the GP images in EVM board. Is there any code changes need to be done to create GP device environment in EVM Board.

Below is my Environment:

Evaluation Board:- AM62B-P1

SDK:- PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-RT-AM62X — Processor SDK RT-Linux for AM62x  Version: 09.00.00.03

Build Environment:- yocto build environment

  • Hi Kumar,

The binary difference between GP and HS-FS devices is the R5 SPL "tiboot3.bin". the rest of the binaries, such as A53 SPL/U-Boot, kernel, and Linux rootfs, are the same.

  • Hi Bin,

    Thankyou for your response.

One clarification, Could you pls let me know whether in code we are mentioning anywhere that Device is GP or HS, or based on image we use ( tiboot3.bin) it will automatically detect? Kindly confirm.

    Regards,

    Kumar Ashutosh

  • Hi Kumar,

No it is not automatically detected at runtime.

When you compile u-boot, it generates 3 R5 SPL binaries:

    1. tiboot3-am62x-gp-evm.bin
    2. tiboot3-am62x-hs-fs-evm.bin
    3. tiboot3-am62x-hs-evm.bin

The first binary is tiboot3.bin for GP devices, the second binary is tiboot3.bin for HS-FS devices. You have to use the corresponding tiboot3.bin binary depending on the device type.
