Can the AM3505 be booted from eMMC NAND flash compliant with MMC4.3?
The AM3505 Technical Reference Manual indicates in Chapter 24 (Applications Processor Initialization) Section 24.4.7.6 that it supports MMC/SD cards compliant with the Multimedia Card System Specification v4.2.
okay, boot state was introduced in 4.3?
But the Bootstrap should be able to do INIT+CMD0+CMD1+CMD2,... going to transfer state and read the first 128KB.
That should be possible also with a AM35xx that uses only the 4.2 standard.
So it's only a problem of the bootstrap?
Hi Brandon,
v4.3 and later versions of the MMC specification have dropped support for SPI mode. If the AM35x MMC/SD bootstrap process doesn't make any use of SPI mode then devices compliant with these later specifications should also be ok. Can you please confirm whether this is the case?
Thanks very much,
John
